Charles City Challenge Whitewater Festival Weekend…Weather, River Levels Could Cause Adjustments

The Charles City Challenge Whitewater Festival is set to return to the Cedar River this weekend. **As events stand at 11:30 am Friday (06.20)
Organizer Emily Garden says bragging rights are at stake for the River Cleanup from Noon to 4 pm on Friday (06.20).
Friday night at 8 its the Paws Dog Jog – Glow Edition by PAWS Humane Society.
Whitewater’s Ginger Williams says registration for competition opens at 9 am Saturday (06.21), including the “Balls to the Wall” race at 11 am.
Garden says the ever-popular Hooligan Open follows at 11:30 am.
Surfing competition Saturday starts at 1:45, with the Kayak Rodeo at 2:45 pm, I Wanna Go Fast at 3:45 pm, and wraps with Float the Cedar at 5:30 pm.
Sunday (06.22) its the Chill & Skill, a day of riverside relaxing and recovery.
Williams says they’re keeping eyes on the river levels as the weekend approaches, which could mean some adjustments to the schedule or specific events to ensure everyone has a safe and fun experience.

***Update…surfing clinics for Friday have been postponed due, with instructor Robert Pittman noting that water levels are too high. He will host a surf clinic Saturday at noon and Sunday at 2 pm for anyone interested in giving it a try..
