Applications for New Hampton Police Chief Due Friday

The City of New Hampton is still accepting applications for its next Chief of Police.

Current NHPD Chief Zach Nosbisch is leaving to become the new Chief Deputy with the Chickasaw County Sheriff Office after his appointment was made official by the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday.

Though the City has known his intentions for a couple of weeks, Mayor Bobby Schwickerath says Nosbisch formally submitted his resignation after his Chief Deputy appointment.

Schwickerath says applications for his replacement are due by this Friday.

Schwickerath says it’s possible that the City could promote from within the police department.

Schwickerth says New Hampton Schools Superintendent Jay Jurrens will be a part of the interview process to find the successor to Nosbisch, who has been the police chief since 2018.

More information on applying for the Police Chief position can be found at www.newhamptonia.com and on the NHPD Facebook page.
