Soybean Export Inspections Surge as Corn and Wheat Decline

U.S. soybean export inspections surged last week on strong international demand, while corn and wheat shipments pulled back, according to the USDA.

For the week ending October 15th, soybean inspections topped 2 million metric tons—nearly double the previous week’s total and well ahead of last year’s pace. In contrast, corn inspections dipped to roughly 672,000 metric tons, down sharply from 1.31 million tons the week prior, while wheat shipments slid to 240,000 metric tons.

For Iowa producers tracking early-marketing trends, season-to-date soybean inspections have jumped to 7.16 million metric tons—up significantly from 5.65 million tons last year—providing a welcome demand boost amid fall harvest. Meanwhile, cumulative corn inspections trail slightly behind last year’s pace at 9.13 million tons.
