Authorities ID Northeast Iowa Woman Who Died from Gunshot Wounds

Authorities have identified the woman who died following a weekend shooting in northeast Iowa.

Waterloo Police said a 911 caller reported hearing gunshots about 10 PM  Saturday (Oct. 17) night and the sounds seemed to come from a home in the 600 block of Lunar Lane. The caller also told dispatchers someone inside may have been hurt.

When officers got to the scene, they went into the home and found an adult woman who had been shot. She has been identified as 27-year-old Ta Mia Sisk. Officers began emergency medical care right away on Sisk before crews with Waterloo Fire and Rescue took her to a hospital, where she later died.

Sisk’s body has been sent to the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

WPD does not believe the public is at risk and are treating the case as an isolated incident. The investigation is ongoing.

Detectives are asking anyone with surveillance video from the area to review footage from about 9:50 PM to midnight on Saturday (Oct. 17) for any suspicious activity or people.

Anyone with information should reach out to Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers or Waterloo Police.
