Floyd County Food Pantry Receives a $5,000 Boost

The Floyd County Food Pantry has received a $5,000 boost.
The Farm Credit Service America’s (FCSA) Working Here Fund grant will fund additional capacity for refrigerator and freezer storage and support the food pantry’s mission to provide nutritional assistance to those facing food insecurity in Floyd County.
Jen Burton, President of the Pantry in downtown Charles City, says, “The funding arrives at a critical time as the Floyd County Food Pantry is experiencing a 25% increase in attendance each month since February.”
Burton adds the grant will also further increase the Pantry’s food rescue from local businesses and “allow us to keep shelves stocked with healthy options and ensure that no person in the community seeking help will go to bed hungry.”
Floyd County Food Pantry is one of 149 organizations to receive a Working Here Fund grant in the second quarter of 2026, with FCSA awarding more than $1.2 million during the latest grant cycle ending June 30th.
The Floyd County Food Pantry serves residents of Floyd County, with 150-to-175 households monthly. Distribution is every Friday from noon to 3 PM and Saturday from 10 AM to noon.
Members of the community looking to receive help, volunteer, or donate can call Burton at 641-220-1769.
