Community Conversation: Chickasaw Co. Auditor Sheila Shekelton, Supervisor Jacob Hackman Preview Public Hearing on FY27 Property Tax Rates

In this Community Conversation, presented by Floyd County Medical Center, 95.1 The Bull’s Mark Pitz talks with Chickasaw County Auditor Sheila Shekelton and Board of Supervisors Chair Jacob Hackman to preview the public hearing at 9 am Monday (03.23) morning on the County’s proposed property tax rates for the 2026-2027 fiscal year. They’ll discuss the different factors that effect tax rates, setting budgets, and the challenges of the budgeting process. They also encourage tax payers to be aware of the various tax bodies (over three dozen entities across the county) that also go into your overall tax bill.
