Work Underway for Collective on 13th Housing Development in Charles City

Ground preparation has begun for the construction of affordable housing apartments on Charles City’s southwest side.
Mayor Dean Andrews says they’re “turning dirt” for “The Collective on 13th.”
Andrews says the multi-housing development fills a need renters have been asking for in Charles City.
Starting Monday (06.09) in that area, the City Engineering Department says Corporate Drive will be closed to traffic at the intersections of 13th Street and Rove Avenue for the installation of new sanitary sewer to the site. Work is expected to take two days, depending on whether.
In the meantime, motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and utilize other routes to bypass the construction area.
Questions can be directed to the City of Charles City at 257-6300.
Project developers, Commonwealth Development, say the property plans to open by Summer 2026, with apartment homes available to individuals and families making 30, 40, 60, and 80% of the area median income (AMI).
