Waterloo Police ID Victim in Shooting Death

Authorities have identified a northeast Iowa man who died last weekend after he was shot.

Waterloo Police say officers were sent to a parking lot at 516 West Mullan Avenue on the report of a shooting early Sunday (08.02) morning. At the scene, a man was found inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound.  Lifesaving measures were initiated, and the man was taken to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.  

The deceased has now been identified as 63-year-old Henry Greer of Waterloo.

WPD says the incident appeared to be isolated and there was no active threat to the community.  

The investigation is ongoing and no other details have been released.

Residents and business owners in the immediate area are asked to review  surveillance footage they may have from between 12:30 AM and 1:15 AM Sunday and report any observations that may assist in the investigation.
