GoFundMe for Floyd County 18-Year-Old Injured in Head-On Collision, Remains Hospitalized

A GoFundMe account has been established to help a Floyd County teen who was seriously injured just over a week ago in a two-vehicle head-on collision in which one car was driving on the wrong side of the road.

The Iowa State Patrol says the crash occurred at about 11 PM July 25th near mile marker 206 along Highway 18, just outside of Floyd. A Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 43-year-old Curtis Carr of Osage, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Highway 18 when it struck an eastbound Nissan Rogue, driven by 18-year-old Lilly Moen of Rockford, head-on in the outside lane. 

The ISP says both Carr and Moen suffered serious injuries and were transported by AMR Ambulance to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City. Both were wearing seatbelts, and the ISP said the seatbelts saved their lives.

A GoFundMe account has been established on behalf of Moen to help buy her a new car and offset medical expenses, with Moen still in the hospital. As of 5 PM Wednesday (08.05), over $8,000 had been raised towards a goal of $11,000. 

A Custom Ink account has been created to raise money for her medical bills, with #Justice4Lilly t-shirts selling at $20 each, with all funds going toward her expenses. As of 5 PM Wednesday, 18 shirts towards a goal of 100 had been sold.

No charges have been filed in the crash, which remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.

Also assisting with the wreck were the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, Floyd County Search & Rescue, plus Floyd, Charles City, Rudd, and Nora Springs fire departments.
