Bremer County Fair Opens Second Year in Its New Home

The 2026 Bremer County Fair opened its seven-day run Sunday (07.26) for just its second year on their new fairgrounds at 300 39th Street on the east side of Waverly.

General manager Eric Ver Steegt says the fresh facilities provide a great showcase for the fair and beyond.

Ver Steegt says their grandstand lineup includes Wednesday (07.29) night’s new feature:  The Redneck Rally.

There’s also the Bremer County Fair’s signature event on Friday (07.31) night: The Combine Demolition Derby.

Other grandstand entertainment includes Power Wheels Derby and Pie Auction Tuesday (07.28) night, ECI Truck and Tractor Pull Thursday (07.30), and Tough Truck Madness on Saturday (08.01) night, followed by a free concert with Arch Allies.

Ver Steegt says the fair also offers various free activities and there’s also a new carnival vendor operated by Get R’ Fried Midway.

***Bremer Co Fair Adjusts Schedule Due to Extreme Heat***

Monday’s (07.27) extreme heat forced the Bremer County Fair to adjust its schedule.

With temperatures in the mid-90s and heat indices of around 110 degrees, The midway was shut down Monday night to protect workers and fairgoers.

General Manager Eric Ver Steegt told KWWL, “Just like any weather situation, there’s always room for concern, but we’re doing the best that we can to mitigate things and take care of about the best we can and keep everybody safe.”

A Bremer County Facebook post indicated that “Get R Fried Midway has made the decision to NOT OPEN today.  Therefore “FREE NIGHT” was postponed and will now be from 3 to 6 PM Tuesday (07.28).

The regularly scheduled wristband special is still on track for Tuesday night from 6 to 10 PM..
