Floyd County Medical Center Open House Shows Off $40 Million Expansion

Floyd County Medical Center’s (FCMC) $40 million expansion, including a new rural health clinic, was on display during a ribbon-cutting and open house Saturday (07.18).

That’s CEO Dawnett Willis, who also told the crowd of about 300 people that they kept one specific group in mind throughout their facility improvements.

Willis also thanked patients for their patience during two years of construction.

Willis also commended hospital staff for making adjustments along the way.

Physician Joanne Starr has been part of the Charles City hospital staff for 25 years.

Physician Heather Dill joined FCMC last year.

A ribbon cutting and tours followed the program.

There’s also more construction coming to FCMC, which was recently awarded a $27.5 million USDA Rural Development loan towards the hospitals $39.5 million Phase I expansion plans for a one-story addition with five new operating rooms, increased space for the materials management department, and a new cafeteria and kitchen.

FCMC is also in the process of finalizing plans for Phase III for the Stille Cancer Center. Construction for Phase II and Phase III will run concurrently as two separate projects and be completed sometime in 2028.
