“Operation Veterans Rock” this weekend is a fundraiser for the Charles City VFW.
Promoter Greg Johnson says festivities begin Saturday (06.06) morning with a Poker Run. Registration begins at the VFW at 9:30 AM, with “kick stands up” for the motorcycle ride at 11 AM, starting from Cedar River Harley, just west of Charles City. Riders will return to the VFW early to mid-afternoon.
Johnson says it’s $20 to participate in the Poker Run, though there’s also a special discount available for some riders.
Activities also includes craft vendors inside the VFW hall from 2 to 6 PM Saturday, plus a variety of food trucks. Live music outside features five bands, with music starting at 3 PM and tickets $20.
Post Commander Denny Hull says the event part of a resurgence for the Charles City VFW.
