Iowa 122 Reconstruction in Mason City to Resume, Weather Permitting; Other Area Projects Coming This Spring

The Iowa Highway 122 reconstruction project in Mason City is about to enter its second year.
The Iowa DOT’s Mason City construction office says, weather permitting, work on Iowa 122 between Monroe and Pierce avenues will resume this Monday (03.16).
Monroe Avenue will be the focus for the first stage of construction this season, with work expected to take two months. The Iowa 122/Monroe Avenue intersection will be reconstructed which requires partially closing the intersection.
For about three weeks. motorists will not be able to make left turns at Monroe Avenue and Iowa 122 from any direction. If you travel on Monroe Avenue you will not be allowed to cross Iowa 122.
After the first three weeks, traffic on Iowa 122 will continue to move east and west through the intersection, but Monroe Avenue traffic will not be able to cross or enter Iowa 122 during this second phase, expected to last about five weeks.
Mercy Hospital and Clinic traffic on Iowa 122 can still access the facility from Crescent Drive and Mercy Drive from either direction.
The Iowa 122 project in Mason City is one of many road construction projects coming up this spring, according to the DOT’s Pete Hjelmstad.
