Charles, Floyd, Colwell Firefighters Battle Farmhouse Fire

Firefighters from three departments responded to a farmhouse fire about five miles south of Charles City Monday (03.02) morning.
The Charles City Fire Department was dispatched to a 911 call around 10:30 am Monday for a house fire at 2640 Timber Avenue. An Amazon delivery driver called in the initial report, saying smoke was coming from the building’s roof.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a home with heavy smoke and fire, prompting crews to immediately begin a fire attack.
Colwell and Floyd fire departments provided mutual aid, with about 20 firefighters battling the fire until about 1 pm Monday afternoon.
Also assisting: Floyd County Communication Center, Floyd County Emergency Management Agency, Floyd County Search & Rescue, Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, and AMR Ambulance.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
It’s not known if anyone was at the home at the time of the fire.
