The Chickasaw Event Center (CEC) in New Hampton was built over two decades ago and has shown its age in recent years.
In 2025, outside repairs included a new roof. This weekend, CEC Director Janet Pickar is looking for volunteers to help with some inside work.
Pickar says they’re hoping for a half-dozen or so volunteers, with work starting at 8 am Saturday (01.10) and at 1 pm Sunday (01.11). Volunteers do not have to work the entire time or both days, but they are asked to bring their rollers, with pads (and lunch) provided by the CEC.
Meanwhile, CEC Board member Chip Schwickerath says the “Double Your Impact” fundraising campaign continues through the month of January.
Schwickerath says funds raised would be used for improvements including new chairs, tables and carpeting.
