Mason City Woman Wins Over $50K With Iowa Lottery Ticket

A north Iowa woman recently won a lottery prize of more than $50,000.
Kathryn Tosel of Mason City won a jackpot prize in the Iowa Lottery’s “Big Money Doubler Progressive” InstaPlay game. Tosel bought her winning ticket at Hy-Vee on Fourth Street Southwest in Mason City, and claimed her prize of $54,444.50 on November 24th at the lottery’s Mason City regional office.
The Big Money Doubler Progressive jackpot starts at $5,000 and increases with every ticket sold statewide until it is won.
Other recent winners in north Iowa include David Knutson of New Hampton, who scored a prize of $30,000 with a “Premiere: scratch game ticket he purchased at All Stop in Fredericksburg.
Knutson, who owns a trucking company, told lottery officials he planned to spread the wealth.
“Ten percent will go to charity, the church, and we’ve got a friend whose husband got injured, so we’ll help her out a little. Then all of our drivers will get bonuses this year. It’s been a tough couple of years in the trucking industry. It might cheer the guys up just a little.”
Premiere is a $30 scratch game that features 17 top prizes of $300,000 and 84 prizes of $30,000.
