Rides With Santa to Return to Charles City December 19th

Horse-drawn wagon rides with Santa Claus in Charles City are being scaled back.

The Main Street Charles City program is offering Rides With Santa on from 4-to-7 PM Friday, December 19th, with the 15-20 minute rides departing from Central Park at the corner of Kelly and North Jackson streets. Rides were originally planned for Saturday, December 20th as well, but have now been cancelled.

Community Development Director Mark Wicks says, “Unfortunately sponsorships for the December 20th date fell through and ride registration for that evening has been extremely low, this year. Therefore, we will just be doing the 19th.”

Enjoy the holiday spirit and lights during this open-air wagon ride, which begins and ends at the park, which will be lit up with the various Santa’s Shining Lights displays. In addition, Mrs. Claus will be in the Santa House in Central Park from 4-to-7 PM. reading stories and handing out treats.

Rides are $5 per person, or rent out the entire wagon for a private ride of up to 11 people for $60. Pre-registration is encouraged. Walk-ups the night of the rides will be accepted only if space is available, and you may have to wait for a time slot opening.
