Some 100 people attended a “No Kings” rally in Charles City’s Central Park in June. Organizer India May is looking for a similar turnout Saturday (10.18) in front of the Chickasaw County Courthouse.
May stresses that the rally is to be a peaceful gathering.
May, who’s challenging Republican Charley Thomson of Charles City for the Iowa House District 58 seat, says Saturday’s event in New Hampton starts at 11 am and is expected to last about an hour. It’s one of some 2000 rallies expected this weekend across the country.
During the “No Kings” rally in Charles City in June, attendees went on a 15-minute march through downtown Charles City. May says a march is not expected Saturday in New Hampton.
There’s is also a rally from noon to 2 pm Saturday at Central Park in Mason City.
