Playground at Central Preschool in Charles City Vandalized

A school playground in Charles City has been vandalized.

A Facebook post by Central Preschool reads, “We are sad to say someone has been misusing our playground. We arrived Thursday (10.09) to find sand dumped all over the sidewalk and toys thrown around. We chalked it up to kids being kids. But sadly, when we arrived at school today (Monday 10.13), the skylight on our new playhouse was intentionally shattered, as well as many broken play dishes.”

The post adds, “Our playground is designed for children 5 and under and isn’t intended for older children. We didn’t mind the occasional after-hours use when the toys were being used respectfully. However, with our items now being broken, we are forced to close our playground to anyone who is not a student of Central Preschool or a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.”

Central Preschool officials are asking the community that if you see anyone within their fence after hours, please report it to the Charles City Police Department.
