Northeast Iowa Authorities ID Deceased Wisconsin Man Pulled from Mississippi River

Authorities in northeast Iowa have identified a Wisconsin man whose body was found in the Mississippi River.

The Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office received a call shortly before 12:30 am Friday (08.22) that a body was in the water near S&S Houseboat Rentals in Lansing.  The Lansing Police Department was the first to respond to the scene, with Lansing Emergency Medical Services and the Lansing Fire Department recovering the body.

Lansing Police say the man was unresponsive when he was pulled from the river and was pronounced dead at the scene. The man has been ID’ed as 63-year-old Robert Merlin Biertzer of Brownsville, Wisconsin. 

An investigation by the Lansing Police Department continues, but no foul play is suspected.

The Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene.
