Work Continues to Make Roads Drivable in Wake of Chickasaw County Flooding

Chickasaw County Secondary Road crews are continuing their efforts to get rural roads back in shape following this week’s flooding.

County Engineer Roman Lensing addressed the situation with the Board of Supervisors Monday (08.18) morning at the onset of their issues with Mother Nature.

Lensing says crews have worked almost non-stop from 6 am to 4:30 pm every day since.

Lensing estimated some 100 “spots” on County roads that needed attention in the wake of flooding, but crews should make significant progress by the end of the week. Even then, he cautions motorists to be prepared for rough areas, since it could take a few more days to get all roads fully recovered.

Lensing says the 511ia app has the most up-to-date listing of road closures, but also notes that some roads may be passable but still listed as closed to give crews more time to do repairs.
