Main Street America Visits, Evaluates Charles City Main Street Program

Staff members from Main Street America recently made a stop in Charles City.
Representatives were in town to visit with and conduct a national accreditation scoring of the Main Street Charles City program. The review included a series of meetings with community leaders, partner organizations, committee members and board members.
Main Street America’s Joi Cuartero encouraged officials to keep up their efforts to make Charles City welcoming to visitors through their various “wayfinding” methods.
Cuartero said its also important for Main Street to stay connected with businesses outside of the downtown district.
Cuartero said Main Street can also play an important role in helping address Charles City’s shortage of quality housing.
Main Street America’s Amy Miller says she was impressed by the diversity of businesses along Main Street as well as the murals and artwork around Charles City, which she says reflects a community that cares.
