City of New Hampton Urging Residents to Keep Grass Clippings Off Streets
With frequent rain and warm temperatures, it’s been a challenge for homeowners to keep up with mowing their lawn. For some, it might be every three to four days.
That means lots of extra grass clippings, which has the City of New Hampton reminding residents that blowing or leaving those clippings in the street could get you a citation or fine.
Mayor Steve Geerts says those grass clippings can be problematic if they’re not disposed of properly.
Geerts adds that grass height has also been an issue, noting that the City had to mow a lawn for grass that was longer than the eight inches allowed by City code, with the cost of that mowing passed along to the homeowner.
