Pierrette was born on April 25, 1936, to Marguerite and Alphonse Drouet in Belleray, France. When she was four years old at the beginning of WWII her father died and her mother married Louis Feree who became the most wonderful father to Pierrette and her sister, Bernadette. Later they welcomed her brother, Bernard.
In 1956 Pat began working at the American military base in Verdun, France, as a telephone operator and interpreter. She met the love of her life, Raymond (Ray) Wood, who was stationed at the military base and they were married on April 6, 1957 in Verdun. Raymond left France shortly after to be with his father who was very ill in Wisconsin. Pierrette then immigrated to the United States in July 1957 and together moved to Charles City, Iowa where they raised three children, Marian, Dany, and Brigitte. Over the years they traveled frequently back to France to visit many relatives.
Pierrette had several jobs in Charles City after her youngest, Brigitte, started school, but most notable she was the “Lunch Lady” at Lincoln Elementary for many years. She loved this job and all the children she met. In addition, she worked at the YMCA as a receptionist in the evening.
She will be missed by her family; daughter, Marian (Werner) Ennen of Eau Claire, WI and her children, Kayli (Jacob) Brickner of Freedon, WI, and their children, Greyson and Finley; Chelsea (Alex) Ennen of Eau Claire, WI; Brigitte (Joe) Van Nice of Grundy Center, IA and their children, Josie, Katie, Landon, Owen, Jacob, and Evie Van Nice; and granddaughter, Danyel Wood of Seattle, WA. In addition Pierrette will be greatly missed by relatives in France, and especially by her sister’s daughters, Myriam Leturc, Marylene Clou, and Laurance Carta. In addition, she is survived by brother-in-law, Stanley (Carol) Wood of Waterloo, IA and many cousins in France and the United States.
Pierrette joins her husband, Raymond, her parents; son, Dany and daughter-in-law, Lois; two siblings, Bernadette and Bernard, and three siblings who died before her birth; her in-laws, nine sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.
