One Person Dead Following a Two-Vehicle Weekend Crash in North Iowa

One person is dead and three people injured following a two-vehicle weekend crash in north Iowa.
The Iowa State Patrol (ISP) says the collision occurred shortly before 9:30 am Saturday (07.12) morning about six miles north of Mason City. A Lincoln MKS, driven by 85-year-old Joseph Costello of Plymouth, was traveling eastbound on 330th Street, when it was struck on the driver’s side by a Ford Expedition, driven by 34-year-old Valinda Imus of Northwood, which was heading southbound on Highway 65.
ISP says Costello died from injuries, despite wearing a seatbelt, and was transported to the medical examiner’s office by Mason City Fire Department Ambulance. A passenger, 83-year-old Carol Costello of Plymouth was injured and taken to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.
Imus and a passenger in her vehicle, 30-year-old Deandre Harvey of Fort Dodge, were also transported to Mason City for treatment of injuries.
The Cerro Gordo Sheriff’s Office, Worth County Sheriff’s Office, Manly Volunteer Fire & Rescue, and the Mason City Fire Department assisted at the crash site, which remains under investigation.
