North Iowa Man Dead After Crashing His Car During Pursuit with Law Enforcement
The driver who led north Iowa law enforcement on a late-night pursuit is dead after crashing his car into a tree, a house and two other vehicles.
The Iowa State Patrol (ISP) says the wreck occurred shortly after 1:30 am Sunday (07.13) morning near the intersection of 4th Avenue South and South Shore Drive in Clear Lake. The crash report says the driver of a 2015 Ford Fusion, 22-year-old Zachary Hill of Forest City, was trying to escape from law enforcement, with the high-speed pursuit ending when Hill’s Fusion went out of control at a high rate of speed, hitting a tree, an unoccupied house, and two parked vehicles.
ISP says Hill was transported by the Clear Lake Fire Department ambulance to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City, but he died from injuries suffered in the wreck.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, Clear Lake Police Department, and Lake Towing also assisted with the incident.
