County Social Services to End Operations Monday (06.30)
A Northeast Iowa-based provider of mental health and disability services for over 15 years will cease operations after Monday (06.30).
Because the State of Iowa is restructuring behavioral health and disability services, County Social Services (CSS) has not been awarded a contract and will be sunsetting June 30th.
According to www.countysocialservices.org, CSS began service on January 1, 2009, when five counties came together to further advance the vision of creating a more equitable service system, while retaining the principle of local control. Since that time, CSS grew to a consortium of 12 counties: Allamakee, Black Hawk, Butler, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Floyd, Grundy, Howard, Mitchell, Tama, and Winneshiek.
CSS advises, for behavioral health needs, please reach out to the Behavioral Health ASO, Iowa Primary Care Association, www.iowapca.org. For disability access, please reach out to the Disability Access point or Mitchell, Howard, Winneshiek, Allamakee, Floyd, Chickasaw, Fayette, Clayton, Butler, Grundy and Tama counties at www.cicsmhds.org. The Disability Access Point for Black Hawk County will be www.ecriowa.org.
In the absence of CSS, Mitchell County Public Health & Home Health says they will step in to provide General Assistance for Mitchell County. If you or someone you know is in need, please don’t call 641-832-3500 to schedule an appointment.
They add they want to reassure the community: Mitchell County Public Health & Home Health remains here for YOU—to support, assist, and advocate for the health and well-being of every Mitchell County resident.
