Several area veterans organizations will host Memorial Day remembrance programs, including the Charles City VFW.
That’s Post Commander Denny Hull, who encourages attendees to bring their own lawn chairs. In the event of inclement weather, the program will be moved inside the VFW.

American Legion Fae Stine Post 38 hosts Memorial Day ceremonies Monday (05.26) morning at 10 am at the Veterans Memorial in front of the Chickasaw County Courthouse in New Hampton.
The program will feature guest speakers Randy Ruth and Jamey Welter from the Purple Heart Tour (PHT), which Welter says began in 2010 by taking retired and/or active veterans on pheasant and turkey hunts in northeast Iowa.
Post Commander Brian Quirk says the program will be followed by a free will donation lunch.
In the event of inclement weather, the program will be moved to the Chickasaw Event Center. If needed, Quirk says they will make a determination by 8 am Monday.
