New Drive-Thru Route for Charles City Mobile Food Pantry Starts Wednesday (05.07)

First-Wednesday-of-the-month drive-thru distribution of food by the Charles City Mobile Food Pantry will take on a new look on the Floyd County Fairgrounds, starting with the May distribution on Wednesday (05.07).
Site coordinator Jen Burton says changes are necessitated by an increasing number of clients arriving earlier and earlier, some by noon.
Burton says it’s an issue that’s grown as the number of those in need of food has grown.
Burton says it created a bottleneck, all on the east side of the fairgrounds.
Starting Wednesday, clients will enter on the west side of the fairgrounds off of Packard Avenue and they will then be guided by volunteers and signage to food pickup at the YEC. Clients will then exit on the east side of the fairgrounds at Highway 14.
Distribution time remains the same from 5 to 6 pm.
