Floyd County Solid Waste Collection Site Changing Hours
Hours of operation will change next month at the Floyd County Waste Collection Site.
County Engineer Adam Miller informed Supervisors Tuesday (04.22) that new hours will take effect starting May 6th at the facility, located just west of Charles City, near the Floyd County Fairgrounds. The most notable change is a reduction of Saturday hours from 9 am to 4 pm down to 9 am to noon.
Miller says one of the reasons behind the change is improving morale for the site’s lone full-time employee.
County Auditor Morrigan Miller expressed her reservations on the move.
Supervisor Gloria Carr added that three hours on Saturday for solid wast collection isn’t enough time.
Board Chair Dennis Keifer offered another perspective.
While Saturday hours are being reduced, Miller says they’ll add an extra hour of operations for Tuesdays through Fridays, with opening time being moved up from 10:30 am to 9:30 am and closure remaining at 5:30 pm those days. He added he wants to give these new hours a try, but is also open to adjusting if needed.
The Floyd County Waste Collection Site is closed Sundays and Mondays.
