National Weather Service to Host Storm Spotter Training Thursday (03.13) Night in Luana

The first day of spring officially arrives one week from Thursday (03.13).
Mike Kurz, warning coordination meteorologist with the National Weather Service in La Crosse, says that doesn’t mean spring-like storms can’t crop up sooner.
Even in spring, Kurz says tornado formation can surprise forecasters, like the cold air funnel cloud south of Charles City last May.
The NWS will host a free Storm Spotter Training session from 6:30 to 8 pm Thursday (03.11) night at the Luana Fire Department.
Kurz also notes that attending the Storm Spotter Training session does not commit you to becoming a storm spotter.
Additional Storm Spotter Training sessions are also scheduled in Waterville on April 1st and in Elma on April 2nd.
