Northeast Iowa Authorities Alert Public to Counterfeit Bills

Authorities in Northeast Iowa are putting the public on the lookout for “funny money.”
Waukon Police say they were made aware of counterfeit bills being passed in Waukon and reminds all businesses to check bills for authenticity.
To combat the issue, WPD says they’ve ordered counterfeit-detection pens, which businesses may buy at cost for $1 each and can be picked up at the police station.
Waukon Police also ask businesses to update their contact information, especially emergency contacts in the event they need to notify businesses of relevant information. Updates can be made to: [email protected]
