The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) is alerting the public to a recent increase in scams targeting senior citizens in our area and around the state.
An FSCO Facebook post adds, “There have been reports where people have been contacted (by scammers) stating that a family member has been arrested and needs cash money to get out. They offer to courier the money and pick up cash at your house.”
FCSO also notes that no sheriff’s office does this and that they only accept bond money in person at the Sheriff’s Office and the Floyd County Jail.
If you have fallen victim to this or have received these types of calls, please report it to your local law enforcement agency.
