Intermittent Closures at Mississippi River Bridge at Lansing Resume

Intermittent closures on the Mississippi River Bridge at Lansing resumed on Tuesday (09.17).

The Iowa DOT says crews will continue work on constructing a new pier and driving the pier foundation for the new bridge that will replace the current bridge.

Intermittent closures of a half hour will happen on the existing bridge to reduce vibration from construction activity and traffic, limiting the chance of damage occurring. These closures are anticipated twice a day each weekday, with work to be completed by Friday, October 4, weather permitting.

The DOT will be providing updates on the Lansing Bridge Facebook page and through local media as construction progresses.

The DOT adds that work on the new bridge at Lansing is moving forward.
