A New Hampton family continues to pick up the pieces after their home was heavily damaged by fire almost two weeks ago.
The New Hampton Fire Department says they were called to the house fire at 940 East Main Street on Sunday morning. June 9th. Dayna Collins, her fiance, Russ Novak and son, Bryer, were able to evacuate safely, but two dogs perished in the fire.Â
The house sustained significant damage throughout the structure, with firefighters on scene for about five hours. As of Wednesday (06.19) , Assistant Fire Chief Nick Jurgensen says they were waiting for a report from the State Fire Marshal before ruling on the cause of the fire.Â
Collins says Bryer suffered some minor injuries and Russ was treated for smoke inhalation. His CPAP machine was destroyed in the blaze, but Collins says they were able to find a replacement.
They have been staying at the Super 8 motel in New Hampton since the fire. Those who wish to offer assistance to the family are asked to drop off items at 410 West Hale in New Hampton, home to Collins’ dad.
Collins says they bank at First Citizens Bank in New Hampton and monetary donations can also be made there.
She is thankful to those who have come to their aid.
