Charles CityMain Street Resurfacing Plans Tentatively Approved by City Council

The Charles City City Council earlier this month approved the “preliminary final plans†for the resurfacing of Main Street, a project that could take up to three months for completion.
That’s City Administrator Steve Diers, who adds the project requires a collaborative effort with businesses along the construction route.
Diers says the City must now await DOT approval for the resurfacing plan, with hopes work will be finished in time for the Fourth of July parade through downtown Charles City.Â
The City will hold a public hearing on the final plans, costs, bids and contract for the construction on April 15, 2024.
This project is receiving $800,000 in state funding with the remainder being funded with Local Option Sales Tax monies and will not involve assessments to property owners.
