Over 100 Grams of Heroin Seized in Northeast Iowa Drug Bust

Over 100 grams of heroin were seized in a northeast Iowa drug bust last week.

Wednesday (12.06) night, Oelwein Police Department executed a search warrant in the 1200 block of 1st Street Northeast, leading to the location and seizure of illegal controlled substances, including over a pound of heroin. The investigation also resulted in the arrests of 33-year-old Cody Skidmore and 31-year-old Marian Meier, both of Oelwein.

Skidmore and Meier were both charged with one count of possession with intent to deliver heroin over 100 grams, a Class B felony; and intent to manufacture/deliver Psilocybin mushrooms, a Class C Felony. They also face one count each of failure to affix drug tax stamp – heroin, failure to affix drug tax stamp – psilocybin, both Class D felonies. 

Skidmore was also charged with possession of marijuana, cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Meier was also charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Additional charges are pending.

In a separate drug bust, Oelwein Police arrested 41-year-old Gene Shay and 44-year-old Nancy Latham, both of Oelwein, Saturday (12.09) afternoon in the 2000 block of Outer Road on multiple Fayette County warrants. 

Shay was wanted for possession of a controlled substance – third or subsequent offense, accessory after the fact, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with an open container.

 Latham was wanted for warrants for possession of a controlled substance – second offense, unlawful possession of prescription drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia. During her arrest, Latham received an additional charge of unlawful possession of prescription drugs.
