Schrodt New President of Charles City School Board

The Charles City School Board took on a new look Monday (11.27) night.
After the regular Board meeting concluded, an organizational meeting was conducted to swear in two new Board members and select a new Board president and vice-president. Â
Newcomers Bruce Koebrick and Dara Jaeger joined the Board, replacing Janiece Bergland and Pat Rottinghaus. Bergland decided not to seek another four-year term while Rottinghaus was defeated in her re-election bid when Koebrick and Jaeger received the most votes to win seats in the November 7th election.
After residing over her final regular meeting as Board president, the successor for Rottinghaus was selected for the new Board. Kathryn Fox nominated Josh Mack, a previous Board president and a proponent of the failed $28.5 million bond referendum to revitalize the High School.
Koebrick nominated David Schrodt, who was in no hurry to put a bond measure before voters again.
Schrodt also stressed the importance of reversing the trend of declining test scores in the school district. He was elected Board president on a 3-2 vote with Schrodt, Koebrick and Jaeger voting in his favor. Jaeger was selected as vice-president.
