If the snow plows hit the streets of New Hampton, it’s likely that enough “measurable†snowfall has occurred to activate the City’s snow parking ordinance.
That means vehicles must be off the streets for City crews to clear the snow, or you could face a fine, which Mayor Bobby Schwickerath says has gone up this year. Thus, he advises citizens to do their part to avoid the fine and help the removal process go more efficiently.
NHPD will issue tickets to violators after the City makes an initial pass to clear a street, which gives them a better idea of vehicles that were still in the street when snow plows have been by.
Schwickerath adds that there are some City parking lots where vehicles can be parked during snow removal, but space is limited.
