Six candidates are vying for three seats on the Charles City City Council in Tuesday’s (11.07) election, including incumbents Keith Starr, Phoebe Pittman, and Phillip Knighten, with challengers, Patsy Beaver, Joanne Robinson and Joshua Neupert also on the ballot.
Beaver says being on the City Council means commitment.
Pittman says she wants to continue making improvements for citizens, including bettering the future of Charles City for the students she teaches.
Robinson says more Council decisions should factor in those living on fixed incomes.
Knighten says being on the Council means continuing efforts to attract more people to America’s Hometown.
Neupert, a first responder himself, says protecting that population means determining the future of ambulance service in Charles City.
Starr says making decisions on things like the ambulance as well as other City improvements is getting tougher for cities across Iowa.
Since City Council positions are all elected at-large in Charles City, the top three vote-getters on Tuesday will be elected to office.
