After being in effect for over a month, the burn ban on open burning in Floyd County has been lifted.
Floyd County Emergency Management Director Jason Webster says the County’s request to rescind the burn ban, per the fire chiefs with districts in Floyd County, was filed Monday morning with the State Fire Marshal’s Office. The approved order lifted the burn ban as of noon Monday. The ban had been in effect since September 7th.
Grundy County lifted its burn ban at 9 am Monday morning after its ban had been in place since September 6th.
Bremer County ended its burn ban at 10 am Saturday morning after it had also been in effect since September 7th.
As of 6 am Tuesday, burn bans remain in place in Cerro Gordo, Hancock, Hardin and Wright counties in north central Iowa as well as seven other counties in the state.
The burn bans state that “no person shall engage in open burning until such dangerous conditions to life or property no longer exist.â€
Grills and recreational fires are exempt from the burn ban, however, fire pits must have the proper cover to prevent the spread of embers.Â
