BREAKING: Osage Man Could Spend 50 Years in Prison for 2021 Murder

An Osage man could spend up to five decades in prison for the murder of a north Iowa woman over two-and-a-half years ago.

24-year-old Nathan Gilmore was originally charged with first-degree murder, a Class A felony, in the death of Angela Bradbury, a Cerro Gordo County woman last seen alive April 6, 2021. Her remains were later found in rural Mitchell County and confirmed to be Bradbury’s in February of 2022.

Gilmore initially pleaded not guilty, however, in August, he agreed to plead guilty to second-degree murder, a Class B felony.  By agreeing to the reduced murder charge, Gilmore will avoid a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole that comes with a first-degree murder conviction.

Monday, in Mitchell County District Court, a judge sentenced Gilmore to a prison sentence not to exceed 50 years. However, Gilmore must also serve at least 70% of his sentence, or 35 years behind bars, before he will be eligible for parole.

He was also ordered to pay $150,000 to the Bradbury’s heirs.
