Central Springs, Clarksville Win First-Round Girls State Softball Tournament Games
A pair of north Iowa softball teams opened state tournament play with wins Tuesday (07.18) in Fort Dodge.
Central Springs advanced after winning their 2A matchup with West Monona, 8-2. Carly Ryan drove in three runs for the Panthers, Abby Pate added two RBIs, and Cooper Klaashen limited West Monona to just three hits.Â
Central Springs improves to 26-5 and next plays 35-5 Van Meter Wednesday (07.19) evening at 5:30 pm in the semifinals.Â
Clarksville moved to 29-1 with their Class 1A first-round win Tuesday night over Southeast Warren, 7-1. The Indians were led by Cailyn Hardy with three runs driven in. She also pitched a complete game, allowing just four hits by Southeast Warren.
Clarksville advances to a semi-final matchup at 7:30 pm Wednesday night against 37-6 North Linn.Â
