A week after Chickasaw County Supervisors approved the purchase of a third rig for its new County-run ambulance service, that acquisition was questioned by the County’s previous, private service provider.
During their May 15th meeting, Supervisors voted 5-0 to buy an ambulance with a 2009 model year box remounted with a 2023 model year chassis for about $205,000.
Jeremy McGrath, who ended his Chickasaw Ambulance Service to the County on December 31, 2022, claimed the purchase didn’t meet the “used” requirements laid in the County’s Request for Proposal (RFP).
County Attorney David Laudner asserted that Supervisors met the RFP standards.
Despite the opinion of Laudner, Supervisor Jacob Hackman made a motion to retract the resolution to purchase the third ambulance passed on May 15th. However, that motion died for a lack of a second and the purchase of the third rig will be allowed to move forward.
