Area Well-Represented at Girls State Golf Tournaments Starting Thursday

The Girls State Golf Championships will be played at four separate courses Thursday and Friday.

The Class 2A field has the top two teams from last year set to challenge for the state title at the American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown. Cameron Moellers of Cresco-Crestwood, Maryn Bixbey of Dike-New Hartford and Bailey Nuss of Denver are among the individual qualifiers in Class 1A.

Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls will host the Class 3A competition, with Clear Lake looking to defend its title. Charles City’s Claire Girkin along with Brenna Bodensteiner and Mady Mummelthei of Waverly-Shell Rock have qualified on an individual basis.

Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone hosts the Class 1A competition with Nashua-Plainfield among the 10 team qualifiers. Reagan Mulder of North Butler has qualified individually.

The Class 4A state girls golf tournament will be played at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny.
