“A Day To Remember” 1968 Charles City Tornado Set for Monday, May 15

“A Day to Remember” is an opportunity for the public to recount the infamous tornado that ripped through Charles City on May 15, 1968.

Judy Hauser says the public is invited to the Charles City Senior Center this Monday, May 15, to come share your memories of that fateful day.

Hauser says because they anticipate a big turnout for the program, there will be a limit of about five minutes for anyone who wants to share their tornado tale.

Hauser adds that, even if you don’t have a story to tell, you’re still encouraged to come listen to the recollections of the tornado that killed 13 people and destroyed or heavily damaged several churches and countless homes, and many businesses.

Contact the Charles City Senior Center for more information.
