Parking Fines Could Be Going Up in Charles City

While new parking restrictions that went into effect in downtown Charles City in December are remaining unchanged, parking fines across the City are on track to increase.

During their regular meeting Monday night, the City Council approved the first reading of an ordinance to upping the fines that will be assessed for parking violations.

Police Chief Hugh Anderson detailed the changes proposed over the current rates for fines.

A second and third reading of the ordinance is required before the new parking fines would take effect.
