Chickasaw County EMS Adds Second New Ambulance

The new Chickasaw County EMS department added its second new ambulance in time to close out their second month of operation.

The County started its public ambulance service January 1st with a new rig as its number one unit while utilizing a loaner vehicle as its number two rig. The loaner has been returned with the arrival of a second new ambulance, which was put into commission earlier this week.

EMS Director Joel Knutson says having another new rig means more dependability of service.

Knutson says the search for a quality, used ambulance as the County’s third rig continues; which is one example of their biggest obstacle getting the County ambulance service up and running.

Knutson notes that finding a good used rig is also hampered by current ambulance service providers holding onto their rigs longer because production of new ambulances has been held up by the slow down in the manufacture of chassis to put into rigs.

Knutson adds that the EMS department has had a busy first two months and he greatly appreciates the community support of the service.
