Park-Rec Board Plan for Lions Field Pool in Charles City Coming Into Focus

The future of the Lions Field swimming pool in Charles City appears to be coming a bit clearer.

JEO Consulting, the firm conducting a study of the pool, recently reported to the Park-Rec Board that it will take about $1.3 million for the most necessary renovations and repairs to the pool.

The Board met Wednesday night and Parks and Recreation Director Tyler Mitchell says they’re ready to make a recommendation to the City Council.

Mitchell says the Board doesn’t have a set wish list on what new amenities or features could be added.

Mitchell says there’s no firm timeline when JEO will conduct the Task 2 Study for amenities, but he expects it to happen relatively soon.

City officials had also previously “dipped their toes in the water” about the possibility of building a new pool, but that option now appears to be “water under the bridge.”
