Chickasaw County Looks to Fill Out Ambulance Staff

With a January 1st start date now less than two months away, the new Chickasaw County EMS department is pushing to fill out its staff.

Last week, Joel Knutson accepted the Board of Supervisors’ offer to become director of the county-run ambulance service. Now, the focus is hiring the other five full-time positions.

During Monday’s regular Board meeting, Supervisor Chair Matt Kuhn recapped applications for those spots accepted through last Friday.

Knutson wis expected to make recommendations on the makeup of the full-time staff while the Board approved continuing to advertise for part-time staff as well.

Bridget Edson with the County’s Ambulance Advisory Committee told Supervisors they’ll want a good stable of part-timers.

Hiring efforts also include the EMS Recruitment Night at 6:30 p.m this Thursday at the Chickasaw Event Center in New Hampton.

Edson says they’ll be offering an EMT class starting in December. Drivers are also needed with CPR training provided.
